Beyond the asana
Emil Wendel is a child of the 60s and one of those who went East back in the days. Born and raised in Switzerland he has been living in Asia for the past 40 years. Emil studied Sanskrit in India and Chinese philosophy and Taoism in South-East Asia. "Yoga isn't only about the physical body," says Emil Wendel who teaches a practice that goes beyond physical exercise and embraces the subtle dimension of yoga ('beyond the asana'). Emil has been a yoga teacher for many years and regularly teaches Indian philosophy to aspiring yoga teachers worldwide. He practices Hatha Yoga and had many different teachers belonging to different yoga styles.
While reflecting on the repercussions of his travels to Asia Emil examines Chinese and Indian history in this talk with Talkreich. He explains the difference between Taoism and Indian philosophy and also sheds light on common misconceptions regarding yoga and its terminology. Above all however, Emil takes a stance and shares why steady practice is the only way to freedom for him.

«Yoga mehr als nur Körperübungen, der Talk übermittelt dies sehr anschaulich. Auch wenn der Einstieg über die Körperübungen geschieht, verzaubert einem die yogische Energie und man will mehr...:-)»
